Stunning 1949 FL Panhead is a One-Owner Classic with Amazing Custom Art that Makes it More of a Roving Museum
You don’t often see motorcycles — or any sort of vehicle — from the ’40s with only one owner. But this 1949 FL Panhead remains with the family that bought it new, until now! That’s because this beautiful bike is up for grabs at a price of $29,000 in an eBay auction that ends December 24.
And why wouldn’t you want to become the second owner of a bike that is nearly 70 years old? Because this is one stunning example of a well-maintained ’40s FL. Rebuilt back in 1994, it has accumulated only 5,000 miles since then. The FL still sports its original 74-cubic-inch Panhead.
But this is no concours quality original bike, and that’s a good thing in this case. There’s a mile of chrome on this thing, and it’s incredibly shiny. The seat is custom stitched, and the white saddle bags and other white accents add a nice touch.
But the real star here is the custom paint job. Looking like something out of a hippie’s dream, the outer space theme fits this classic bike to a “T.” It’s truly a work of rolling art that pays homage to the custom bikes of the ’60s and ’70s.
Fittingly, this 1949 FL Panhead has a host of awards and trophies that come with it. Also included are all the historic pictures, restoration documentation and documents, including the original title. If you’re in the market for a bike with a built-in backstory, this is the one. Check it out here.
