Stepson Destroys Stepfather’s Custom Harley Davidson ‘in rage’ after getting Xbox shut off

A 19-year-old St. George man was arrested after damaging his stepfather’s motorcycle in a fit of self-described rage.

The incident was reportedly triggered when the stepfather turned of the younger man’s Xbox.

St. George Police Officer David McDaniel was dispatched to a domestic violence incident at a home on 1100 North after the stepfather of 19-year-old Alec Young called police, according to a probable cause statement written by the officer.
The stepfather said he had returned home and found his stepson, Young, playing video games on his Xbox. He asked Young to stop and turn off the TV, and gave him a couple of minutes to do so while he went outside to get the mail. When he returned and found Young still playing on the Xbox, he turned the video game console off himself. This action evidently didn’t set well with Young.

Young started screaming at his stepfather and threw two remotes at him, breaking the remotes in the process, according to the report. The stepfather retreated across the street and called the police. At this time Young also went outside and started attacking his stepfather’s 2009 Custom Harley Davidson FLF motorcycle with a knife. The motorcycle was valued at $40,000, the report said.

“He punched and hit the bike repeatedly,” McDaniel wrote. “(He) then knocked it down and continued to to strike the motorcycle until he broke the knife blade off the handle.”

The assault on the motorcycle wasn’t finished as Young then got into his 2000 Nissan Maxima, backed out of the driveway, “then flooded his Maxima into the motorcycle, pushing it into the garage and all the way into the wall of the garage.”

“The motorcycle sustained damage everywhere,” McDaniel said in the report. “The front forks, fender, frame, and gas tank were all bent.”

Coupled with the damage to the garage and the two broken remotes, overall damages are estimated in excess of $25,000.
Young then fled the scene and went to a friend’s house in Ivins where he was contacted by police. After being told his Miranda rights, Young said he had “acted out” when he threw the remotes at his stepfather. He then went after the motorcycle “in rage.” When his hitting it didn’t cause enough damage to the motorcycle, he told police he got in his car and ran over the motorcycle on purpose.

“(Young) stated he had done everything on purpose,” MeDaniel said.

While being transported to Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility, Young told McDaniel he had missed the last two doses of anti-anxeity and anti-depression medication he is supposed to be taking.

“He felt the lack of medication assisted in his acting out today,” McDaniel said.

Young was charged with two class-B misdemeanors for domestic violence simple assault and leaving the scene of an accident. He was also charged with a second-degree felony for domestic violence criminal mischief. According to booking information, his bail stands at $13,110.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

  1. Obviously, a very angry kid! A REAL MAN WOULD NOT DO THAT! THIS PUNK KIS OBVIOUSLY DID NOT GET ENOUGH “ATTENTION GETTERS” ACROSS HIS REAR WHEN HE WAS UNDER 18!! THROW THE BOOK ATHIM! HE ADMITTED THAT HE DID IT ALL ON PURPOSE, TO DO THE MOST DAMAGE POSSIBLE! HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PUNK OUT WITH HIS MEDICATION EXCUSE!!! 25,000$ WORTH OF DAMAGE?!? NO BAIL FOR THE PUNK! WHO IS GOING TO PAY FOR ALL OF THE DAMAGES?!? I SAY, TAKE HIS POSSESIONS & THE CAR, SELL THEM ALL! THAT MAY BRING IN A LITTLE $$. NOW IT’S ABOUT THE PRINCIPLE OF IT AND NO RESPECT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OF FORM.

What do they try to call it? Affluenza?

  3. This man truly loves his wife and must love this child. The fact that he refrained from beating the punks ass attest to this fact. I have been married twice and when I married both times I married their children. There have been challenges but we have blended a croup of children into a very unique extended family is worth the hassle. The fact that I love all of my children regardless of the parentage has been a blessing but I have never had one STUPID enough to damage one of my motorcycles, I am unsure how well I would react.

First off, it seems that the problem really stems from this punk being mesmerized by video games. The stepfather intervened and broke his punk kids’ time in electronically induced euphoria! If you ever watched the video of the father taking his kids’ X-Box and video games and running over them with a rider mower, you’d notice the reaction of the kid. As if he was cut from an umbilical cord! These video games are as bad as heroin. This incident PROVES this. Nobody in their right mind would behave like this kid did!

  7. Joe, I agree with you.. However, the video which you are describing is completely STAGED.. There a whole series of outlandish video of that kids “outbursts”.. Your point is still valid though.. And sadly, some younger viewer at see those videos and think they’re completely legit and think that’s an appropriate way to behave…

I think it’s a lack of ass whoop’in and he needs to be caught up with a serious ass whoop’in to the point he can’t speak or move without serious pain for a few days

It is a HUGE testiment to the stepfather’s inner peace that the kid is even still alive…most Harley owners I know would have throttled the kid and frankly, been wholly right to do so. The kid has NO idea how stupid he is and how lucky he is to be alive. If it were my bike son…you would be running down the centerline of a freeway with me hot on your trail!

  11. At 19 years of age he is old enough to be out on his own. I would not let him live with me anymore!

  12. Thankfulness to my father who shared with me about this webpage, this website is really remarkable.

I don’t condone the kid’s behavior. I’d have beat his ass. However, the elder and non-gaming generations know nothing about timing on games. If you’re online and playing with other people, then shutting it off NOW isn’t really an option, not if you ever want to get invited to play with those people again. I find it tremendously amusing that people who watch football on TV get upset when they’re told to turn it off now, but don’t have any clue about the social community of gaming. It is obvious the stepfather has no idea how social etiquette works between gamers and it is clear that he never bothered to bridge the gap, show any interest and find out. I find it amusing that a grown man thought it was okay to tell a 19 year old what to do and that it should be done instantly as well. For god’s sake, ASK if they can get off in the next 5 minutes or if they’re in some long drawn out dungeon that will take an hour or something. The world doesn’t revolve around parents, football doesn’t stop because they want it to, why should a game??

  14. Needed to put you a bit of remark to finally say thank you the moment again for your personal fantastic guidelines you’ve shown above. This is really pretty open-handed with you to deliver easily all numerous people could possibly have sold for an e-book to get some profit for their own end, primarily considering that you could possibly have done it if you ever considered necessary. Those thoughts in addition worked to become a easy way to be certain that the rest have the same zeal the same as mine to realize a great deal more with respect to this matter. I know there are numerous more pleasurable opportunities up front for individuals who check out your website.
